A caged sparrow next to the lions and tigers :| could be the future though since many animals start to get the word Endangered infront of the're names. Still far away but closer then you think. I do like the surprised look of the male sparrow here though:aww:

I remember when I was a kid I went to a very sad zoo. Half the animals there were exotic animals in a very bad state and really badly located in my opinion. It was in the 1980's and I believe that back then the animals weren't treated as good as they are today.

The saddest animals were in the bird section. There were many other predatory birds and vultures all in the same big cage. I remember there was a Bald eagle, a golden eagle, a turkey vulture and some other big birds of that kind. The only things in the cage besides those birds were some poles and bowls of food and water in some areas. The ground was all concrete and full of bird crap and feathers. In fact, it was plenty of bird poo in the food bowls and water. It was a real mess. The thing that really made me sick was the California Condor. He was standing on a singular pole, looking at the ground. He wasn't even trying to fly like the other birds in that cage. It wasn't making any noises. It didn't have any reason to live at all. I haven't been in a zoo since that time.

On the other hand, I know many animals in zoos ( like that sparrow ) are there because it's the only way left for them to reproduce and, hopefully, be eventually set free, but when I see a zoo on tv or in movies or whatever, I can't help myself but see our failure in evolving as the dominant species without harming its environment.

animals having a better live in some zoos but it stays a zoo.. we went yesterday to one where a warthog has a huge environment while an eagle there sits in a smale cage :O 80% of the animals dont even look at you or anybody they stare into nothing... they are there but arent. just completely away thats the sad part.. sparrows arent caged here they find food in the cages.. but the way things go they will be caged sooner or later though.. my wife is from Canada and looked surprise to see a bald eagle flying on a bird show she only knows them in wild ofcourse..

they sell them as pets here...but i doubt those bars will keep that little bird in...but i don't think the lions would eat him. he's too small to bother chasing after. unless there's a lion cub who is bored.
